What is a mini lop
A mini lop is a small breed of rabbit with lop ears, which means the ears hang down beside the face rather than standing up. They have a compact, rounded body and a soft dense coat.
They were bred to be a companion rabbit, so they are used to people and tend to be friendly and settled. Every rabbit is different, but as a breed they are known for being sweet natured and easy going.
Size
Most mini lops weigh around 1.5 to 2.5 kilograms. Small enough to cuddle, big enough to feel sturdy.
Lifespan
With good care they usually live around eight to twelve years. They are a long and happy commitment.
Temperament
Calm, friendly and curious. They enjoy company and often settle happily beside you on the floor.
Coat
Thick, soft and dense. They come in lots of colours, from sooty fawn to butterfly markings.
Why they make lovely pets
Mini lops are quiet, clean and very good company. They can be litter trained, they learn their names and they will happily hop over when they hear you in the room. They suit calm homes and gentle handling, and they love having a rabbit friend to share their days with.

- A happy jump and twist in the air is called a binky.
- Rabbits purr by softly grinding their teeth when they feel content.
- Their ears drop as they grow. Baby mini lops often start with ears sticking up.
- They can see almost all the way around themselves without turning their head.
- A rabbit will thump a back foot to warn everyone that something is up.
